Why does yoga bring out all the deep, emotional shit?
Strictly speaking from my own experience as both a teacher and a student, here is what I know about emotional shit and yoga:
Yoga has a tendency to bring all of the hard stuff up, it peels back the layers and it reveals the root cause. When we get emotional during yoga, it’s just our nervous system finally putting down all of the baggage and unloading things that are weighing us down. If you didn’t have your yoga practice, would you ever acknowledge the “deep, emotional shit?” Yoga is a tool to access deeper knowing of the Self through the Self. It is a discipline that urges us to notice. If you are noticing all of the deep stuff, keep going. There is more. The good stuff is right on the other side.
