I travel a lot for my job. I always want to pop into a yoga studio, but drop in rates are really expensive and I visit at least 3 different cities/week. I really love being guided by a teacher. When I am left to my own devices, I can’t think of what poses to do. What is the best way for me to maintain my practice during travel?
Dear Traveling Yogi,
The best advice I can give you for this specific situation is to subscribe to an online yoga service. There are multiple quality companies to choose from, with a host of both knowledgeable and transformative teachers.
Having access to classes at any time of day or night is key when your schedule is unpredictable due to travel and work, and it will help you stay consistent in your practice by finding a teacher who resonates with you, rather than grabbing whatever you can get through a drop-in class. Ultimately, online yoga classes are budget friendly for both your wallet and your time. If you ever miss the community-aspect of taking a class at a studio, check to see if the hotels you often stay at offer yoga classes.
Most importantly, remember that every moment is an opportunity to practice one of the eight limbs of yoga. Asana isn’t your only option.
Best of luck,
